HEALING BELONGS TO US

By Vladimir Uhri

Surely He hath borne our grief (sicknesses)... (Izaiah 53:4).

The Lord Jesus Christ became our sin and with His death paid for our sin. He shed His blood to redeem us from eternal judgment. This is the most important part of our salvation. But it is not all of it.

Jesus did not take upon Himself only our sin, but He took our physical diseases and our physical pain. He took every disease, which existed in His time. He took all the diseases we know now and those unknown to mankind at a particular future.

He took our sicknesses. It is a part of our whole salvation. We cannot accept only one part of salvation and omit the other. The Greek word salvation is “soteria”. Soteria means salvation, but it also means healing. Isaiah in his spirit saw Jesus Christ on the cross hundreds years before it really happened. With prophetic eyes he saw our Lord Jesus on the cross better than those who later stood before the cross. Eyewitnesses did not notice an all-important element of salvation. Paul teaches us that we do not walk by seeing, but by faith. Isaiah saw Jesus on the cross in the Spirit through the Word. He did not know Jesus personally.

Eyewitnesses to the crucifixion did not see our diseases, our sicknesses that Jesus bore. The disciples and others saw Him only with physical eyes and not spiritual ones. He had no form or beauty and they did not desire Him. They turned their faces from Him.

Some stood too far from Jesus. Others had tears. Others did not see well because darkness had set in the sky.

Jesus took on Himself our internal diseases: cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, arteriosclerosis, TB, all kinds of skin diseases, hepatitis... even the future AIDS... He took every disease we can imagine. His body was deformed, without recognition.

This is the reason that after resurrection His disciples were unable to recognize Him. He was completely healed, restored. Travelers to Emmaus did not recognize Him. Others had the impression that it was only Jesus' Spirit and not really Him in the flesh. They saw Him before on the cross beyond recognition. He bore our diseases. But now He had only healed scars on His body.

A crucified person usually dies a slow death. But Jesus died prematurely, because He bore our disease.

After death Jesus went into hell, defeated Satan, and threw away all our diseases from Himself, the same way He did with our sin. He won the battle with Satan and took keys of hell and of death from him (Rev 1:18).

Why then are many still sick today?  The answer is that Jesus took our sin but still people can sin again and again. He took our diseases, but they take diseases back on themselves.

Many are sick, which do not have to be sick.  Nobody has to sin. Nobody has to carry diseases. Some sin because they want to. Others sin because of a lack of knowledge. Wrong teaching is still another reason.

Repentance is one solution. Faith is an important part of healing.

By the Word and by faith we are able to receive healing as well as forgiveness. The fact is that we did not even know that healing belonged to us and is a part of our covenant. Jesus paid for our diseases on the cross as well as for our sin.

If He took our diseases on the cross we do not have to bear them. We can trust on God’s Word. Trust is the first step of faith.

Satan wants to separate us from fellowship with the Father and wants to rob us of the joy of salvation. Whoever is sick does not have joy at all. Satan sends disease our way in order to control us, manipulate us, and destroy the Word of God in us.

Satan destroys what he can, what we allow him to. Satan cannot take away our eternal salvation and therefore he attempts to steal what he can. He tries to break our faith in healing and put us in misery.

Suppose someone comes to your door with venemous snakes and knocks. "Would you like to have some snakes?" he asks. Immediately we close the door.  Christians often accept diseases and then go to the doctor. They accept diseases and agree with them. Often they say: “I have pain in my stomach, perhaps I have an ulcer”. “Each fall I have an ulcer”.

They expect the disease and agree with it. “Perhaps I have cancer” they say.

“I have migraines just as my mom had.” That's, how they accept it.

Some live with disease like it is his or her marriage partner. They live with the disease, they sleep with it, and they are preoccupied with it. They are unable to divorce it.

“Oh, my headache,” “ Oh my migraine”, they say. Disease is not ours. It belongs to Satan.

Often many visit the doctor. He doesn't find anything. They are not satisfied and go from doctor to doctor until someone finds something. They are not in peace until something wrong is found.

It is important to resist the devil. It is important to resist diseases. Health is our inheritance. Every Christian has to realize it.  Health belongs to us as well as eternal salvation.

We have to resist diseases on biblical ground. When I resist, Satan has to run.  We can resist only if we use the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph. 6:17).

We confess the Word of God with our mouth. When Jesus resisted Satan, He always spoke the Word. He said: "It is written,” and He quoted Scripture. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God (Mt 4:4).

Jesus did not write those words on the scrolls and didn't say: “Read it, Satan”. But He said the Word. He said it aloud. He resisted the devil. And the devil fled.

Man has to confess the Word of healing while he is healthy. He should not wait until he becomes sick. We have to exercise confession ahead and aloud; meditate on the Word. Confession aloud by hearing will generate faith in our hearts. Paul teaches us: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom 10:17).

Disciples came to Jesus and asked Him to increase their faith. But Jesus did not do it. He told them that they had to talk to the tree and it would move.

We have many trees in our way and it includes diseases. They have to be moved by our faith and by our sayings.

Jesus will not do it for us. He doesn’t have to exercise faith. We have to. Without faith it is impossible to please Him.

We have to know that faith will not come by thinking. It will not come by concentration. It will not come by reading. It will not come by admitting that God is able to heal. Faith comes by confessing and hearing the Word of God. It has to be healing Words. We have to find all the healing scriptures and start to confess them and talk to the problems.

Many people don't believe in healing, at least not in the way you describe it.  I believe that we are capable of healing, among other things, but only through the Spirit.  Thanks for sharing this.

One other thing comes to mind:  the Bible says that no one was more righteous that Job during his lifetime, yet when the Accuser came before the Throne to speak out against Job, God handed over Job to him, only sparing his life.  Why?  This was not a result of anything Job had done, but should he have been able to prevent, or stop it?

Dear my friend and brother. I do very much appreciate your comment. I did not expect anyone to respond, since that is new subject and many are not familiar with. By the way I messed the title, and I will try to fix it.

Then I will response since it is very important to me this matter of healing. Many people do suffer and it not needed. So far for now.

It's not a new subject to me. I think of it often, but more in the curing fashion as oppossed to the preventing that you talked about. Look forward to hearing more...

It is interesting that many times we do command: you must have a faith. Or you have to love. But nobody teaches us step by step how to practice faith. If one wants to be an expert he has to learn and practice what he learned.

I have compassion for sick. But I have to preach good news. Good news is we do not have to be in misery, be sick or being in bondage of any kind.

I don't know that anyone can teach us how to have faith, or how to love. I believe it's more of an instinctive thing that is put into us, yet we don't always choose to use it. We choose to believe, or not. We choose to love, or not.

Jesus demonstrated faith and love, yet the disciples couldn't quite catch on. That is, until Pentecost when they were filled with the Spirit. After that, there was no more "Ye of little faith".

We could always use more of the Spirit. Perhaps if we let our faith show, and allowed the Spirit to do the work in us that He wants to do, we would more often have the healing that you speak of. Sounds so easy.

Dave, thanks. You are absolutely right. We cannot get even saved without Holy Spirit. He has a power. But we have an authority and He respects it. We release faith by words.

When disciples ask Jesus: give us more faith, His answer was not: “here is I am giving you the faith”. Instead He said: I you will speak to this tree… See we do not speak if we do not have at least a little faith (basic one). Then by speaking faith will grow.

Jesus was clear about everything, but understanding came like a light when Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost.

Thanks for your comment.

You are very well grounded in the Word...men of your faith will be needed in these times...but I am sure you have lived through many difficult times, so these are not strange to you...the time for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is nigh unto us...we had the sprinkling of it in the 70's...but I feel the Shower is coming soon...Blessings Please read my hub on the Guided Imagery for Celebration and tell me what you think...I value your opinion.

Thanks for th article. I hope that we begin to see things through God's eye. I mean spiritually speaking

You receive what you say! That's in a nutshell the teaching of Jesus. Faith is within us. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. For Faith to be alive and active, it has to be acted upon. The word is near you. You believe in your heart (spirit) and you confess with your mouth.

Where is the disease and other sins now? Did Jesus leave them n hell when he got the keys? How does it get out of hell and on to people?

Vladimir Uhri profile image

Vladimir Uhri Hub Author 5 months ago

Hello Robin. Thanks for visit. Very good question. Jesus removed us legally from the judgement. All was provided for us. We are under grace and not under judgement of the Law. The original sin was actually sin of crushed faith. Besides redemption Jesus came also to teach and reconnect faith. By faith we receive salvation and the same time healing. I hope I did answered the question. If not please let me know. Blessings.
